You might be thinking that how helping others helped me? You don’t believe me right?
Believe me it’s true, helping others helped me to grow in blogging, professional, personal and social life as well.
Almost 3 years back when I started blogging I didn’t even know what actually the blogging is?
WordPress, Adsense, Plugins, Affiliate marketing etc were the peculiar terms for me because I never heard about them. And now these are so common terms for me that I used to teach others about them.
Isn’t it amazing?
I already wrote so many times how I started sharing mini posts on blogspot without knowing the fact that what I was doing is called blogging.
Later while reading I came to know about the word “blogging” and gradually came to know about the terms wordpress, adsense and all. But till that time I just knew the names of them, that’s it! I was yet to learn about these from the basics and my bad luck, there was no one to teach me.
Hence I started learning myself by researching things online. I have spent endless days & nights while readings about these terms, how to guides about domain-hosting set up, FTP clients, wordpress, plugins, Analytics, webmaster and endless stuffs. This way I learnt many things but I was sure that I have to learn more and to be perfect I need to practice these things again and again.
Thanks to those friends and other guys who approached me to help them without knowing the fact that I was a newbie and was in learning phase till that time. But I readily accepted all and tried helping them even I was not sure about their problems.
I used to do R & D over the issues which was keep coming to me and then tried to solve. Most of the times I succeeded to solve the issues after trying multiple times.
Whenever someone got his problem solved by me, he recommended me to his other friends saying this is the right person to ask your issues. This way I was started getting so many help requests which I never ignored and kept on accepting, learning and solving their problems.
One thing helped me a lot and that was my confidence level. Whenever someone came and asked me for any help I never said No, I don’t know this, I always said give me some time and let me try. Yes! I kept on saying “let me try!” and those tries most of the times worked well. Those “Tries” were proved to be the great learning experiences for me.
I accept that I never was an expert and not even now but I did believe in me and always faced problems as challenge.
And you know what I love challenges!
I have one habit which I think is good for me and that is When I stuck into something like some site’s coding issue, hosting issue or any technical issues, I cannot leave them until they get solved. Yes! I remember especially in the early days I have spent many sleepless nights because of this habit. This habit worked well for me and I did solve most of the issues I took in hand whether in my blogging career or at my office.
I am not saying that I always get succeeded. There were failures as well but I don’t consider them as failures rather I consider them as Learning Experiences.
Actually, I always felt that if someone asks you for help that means he trusts you and that’s why you have to be very responsible in giving them the best suggestion or help!
!Responsibility increases when people start trusting you!
Being a responsible person, if I am not aware about what someone is asking then I directly tell him that I don’t know this but if you can give me some time I will try to figure it out and solve this. So that the person can decide either he can wait for me to try or move to any other expert.
This way, others’ helping requests made me more responsible, more knowledgeable and most importantly more confident. Yes, helping so many people around me gave me so much of confidence and this confidence helps me taking serious decisions of my personal as well professional life on my own.
I am still learning, Still helping and will keep doing forever!
Moral Of the Story
Help everyone as much as you can! At the same time I would like to tell you don’t help those persons who don’t want to help themselves.
So Did I make it clearer to you that helping others helped me to grow so fast?
Thanks Shaily for reading the post so fast and making up the very first comment. Yes! Helping others is a great work and always help the person who deserves the help. The person who doesn’t try before asking doesn’t deserve to be helped. Keep coming!
Your post resonates with me. I have a love hate relationship with technology and don’t get most of it. If not for so many amazing bloggers online, sharing their knowledge, probably would have stopped because of some minor issue i was facing.
I think, it’s okay to help people even the ones ‘who don’t want to help themselves.’ First help them and if they learn to help themselves, well and good, but if not then I agree with your last suggestion wholeheartedly. It’s difficult to help when someone who doesn’t want your help or believes someone would always be around to help.
I just gave a suggestion to all however I help even those persons who don’t try but that is a waste of time for me as well as for that person too because when someone is helping you then you should learn also. Don’t just get help and forget and again next time if same problem happens you again bug some other person for that.
So, If you start helping yourself others will enjoy helping you. Believe me, I find 95% of solutions just by searching in Google. 🙂
Thanks Priya for stopping by. I would like to advise you to sign up for gravatar and add your image so that your small image will show in comment sections of all wordpress blog. If you face problem doing this then do ask me I will guide you. Thanks!
That’s why I keep asking you naa… 🙂
hehehe! Yea helping others works great! It also depends who is asking you for help.
Thanks for offering to help. I do have an account there and no issues with ‘how to upload my picture on gravatar.’
What stops me from uploading my pic is, I’m scared I won’t be able to change it ever. I don’t want to get stuck with the one I have uploaded for now on most social media platforms. It’s only to let people know ‘I’m not spamming’ and to make myself comfortable with the idea of posting my not-so-grainy picture next time :-).
There are many renowned bloggers who don’t approve comments if they don’t find image of commenter and they do this to reduce spam activity. All commenters without image are not spammer but still a lot of time many bloggers don’t approve comment from non-image commenter. Hence I would advise you to add your own image. you can delete your image anytime from gravatar without any hassle.
Awesome post after post as usual. Nothing is new in your case to deliver great article. I am again moved by your every statement you made and agreed. How do you manage all do you have any magic stick for your continuous well performance. I even also like such post to read. Thanks for sharing your point of views.
Thanks Di for reading and taking time to write the comment. Managing everything becomes easy when you are passionate about what you do.
Nobody generally appreciate the picture you tag in words. But I couldnt stop myself, very good image you share for the post.
Hehehe. I got many compliments for this image already. Thanks that you liked the image.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts related to helping. What to say? You are well known in the blogsophere with your helping attitude. Yeah, i do agree with you that if anyone seeks help from us, we will learn a lot. I am experiencing this now.
Aha! How this habit coincides between both of us. Yeah, I too have the same habit. If i get into something, i”ll involve deeply and can’t get sleep until receiving solution for it.
Thanks again for sharing your real experiences Atish, even i forwarded some people to you sometimes to solve some specific issues 😛
Keep writing, your followers are eager to know you 🙂
Thanks Nirmala for reading and writing a thoughtful comment. Yeah! Its good to involve deeply in the issue and find solution first then do other thing. This way the problem gets solved without much delay. Keep coming.
Great write up mate. I loved the way you have helped yourself by helping others over the time and learnt a lot of things which are now your “Skills”. keep it on. motivating post.
Hello Atish Sir,
i just loved this article. 🙂
when I came into blogging I heard about you that you have very helping nature and now u just write about your personal experience.
Thanks Rajesh for your kind words. Please don’t call me Sir! Keep coming! 🙂
Hello Atish Bhai,
I find there is a deep feeling inside the title of the post. Yes it is like Newton’s third law of motion that states “To each action there is equal and opposite reaction” and it is too much practical and true.
It is better to ask for time, If we don’t know things at the moment instead of misguiding and avoiding.
I still remember my first guest post was on your blog and you are not only helping newbies but also you are helping some existing bloggers.
Thanks Avinash for stopping by. I am glad that you got the concept and directly relate it to Newton’s third law which suits here. Keep coming.
Helping others is the name of the game when it comes to blogging. We push out the best content we can to help others. Then when people come over and ask for help, we extend a hand.
The best thing you have done is that when you couldn’t help a person immediately you said to them “Give me time” – Now that’s what I call a dedicated person.
I cannot tell you how many times people have said to me that they could help and then send me a link to something I have to buy. Bad business I say!
But they way you are doing it only will bring you a good business base of people. You have shown others that you are honest. Honesty is what people crave.
Plus, you set boundaries. If a person doesn’t want to help themselves, there is no use working with them. I do the same thing myself. It only leads into trouble.
Thanks Donna for sharing your views here. I never asked anything in return from anyone rather I expect that person to work hard and do good so that I can feel good and say “hey this is the guy I have helped and he is now even doing better than me”.
Keep coming Donna.
Nice to read such a beautiful and helping article. We all know that Practice make a man perfect and from your point of view helping also make a man perfect. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Esha for your comment!
Hi. I’ve been looking for exactly this image. Are you able to let me know where you got it from? Can I purchase from a stock photography site. Any help much appreciated! Thank you.
I have just taken it from Google search in low quality but if you want to buy this image you can search this image on any Stock images site and buy that from there
I am so glad that i met you today through one of my G+/blog friends. Yes, sharing our knowledge will surely increase our knowledge! This i learned long back and i apply it in all the areas of my life yes, especially in my blogging life. I have posted few articles in my blogs in this regard. “Let us share our blessings”
Atish, I could very well relate to you in many areas you mentioned in this post, seeing my blog pages in English and Malayalam (my native language) many asked different doubts in relation to creating blogs and adding gadgets etc etc in their pages, some even send their id and password to me to do this. Sad to say that some are not ready to take the pain to go forward and they put a full stop there. As you said in the concluding Para: “ don’t help those persons who don’t want to help themselves.” Some are in this category and they never try and will go down into the deep waters of www forever not to come back 🙂 LOL
At the same time some are progressing steadily and I am so happy to note that, like you when I was with Google’s knol pages few of them helped me in this way but many declined their help, may be due to their time restrictions. But I never give up and tried things myself by R & D and I succeeded in many areas, but still I do not know many things for that I still seek helps of some of my good friends in the WWW. Nice to know Atish more about you and your never hesitating nature. I appreciate Atish. Keep it up. Keep going. I am bookmarking your page to get deep into your pages. Keep informed.
Have a Happy Weekend.
Keep in touch
Getting help from others is good but never completely rely on any one because its you who can do all of your work with full dedication. If you yourself cannot dedicate yourself to your work then how others would. I am glad that you are keep on trying and believe me those who try always get success sooner or later.
Apart from this whenever you need any help just drop me an email and I will try to reply within 24 hours! Keep coming!
Thanks a lot for your quick response.
Nice to hear from you, Thanks again
for the kind offer.
Cool! Enjoy phil!
Helping everyone is a noble cause especially when some needs it desperately. I have seen your name on multiple blogs which I read and comment. Truely its good to be featured on others blog but that should be well deserved as you do. Keep writing, Keep helping.
Thanks Sarah for reading and commenting on my blog.
Sorry to be a little late here as I wasn’t keeping too well earlier, though glad to be here now 🙂
Yes, helping others is the best thing you can do, to yourself and to mankind also. I think you do yourself a great favor when you help others- the satisfaction you receive beside the goodwill cannot be compared, and if you do it selflessly and just because you want to, you are always way above the rest.
I know you are one such blogger, Atish – and people speak very highly of you and the way you have helped so many people in their blogging journey – way to go!
Thanks for sharing more of you with us. Have a nice week ahead 🙂
Dear Harleena, glad you read the post finally. Helping is in my blood. I become happy when my help work well with other people.
Any way, I hope you are now doing well health wise.
Thanks Atish for your helping nature. Happy to read this post.
Thanks Suklambar for your comment. Keep coming.
Thanks for sharing this really important lesson – I think giving and helping other people is one of the most rewarding things we can do. Anyone who doesn’t realise that is missing out on a lot in life. As you say, you learn and grow and gain an awful lot yourself when you reach out to help others, as you have.
Way to go, Atish!
Thanks Sue for reading this post. Yes, Helping others cleared so many concepts which I never understood while reading theoretically. Keep coming.
I think you posted comment on wrong post 😛 😛
I so believe in helping others as part as a pathway to success! However, there is a caveat: not everyone appreciates the help, and some may be like a bottomless pit, asking for more, more, more. It’s also important to know when to say: No. If you help someone so much that you hurt yourself (by sacrificing too much of your time, for example), you won’t feel good about it.
Yes you are right, not everyone appreciate your help but I believe in helping those only who area really in need. Thanks for coming by Leora.
I have only been blogging for 10 months, and I can honestly agree with you 100%. Working alone as a blogger will make success a hard thing to reach.
Thanks Amiti for your comment. blogging has so much potential.
That’s the point Atish. But in blogging profession there are so many bloggers who don’t want to help other bloggers. They always ask for money for little to little help.
There are bloggers who offer services and that’s the way they earn so to those bloggers if you ask for help, they will ask for money as that is their business and I don’t think anything wrong in that.
But those bloggers, who don’t offer services should help you. Thanks for the visit Diana.
